A Dal, Spinach and Sweet Potato Curry Recipe Test
It’s curry time again. I just don’t seem to be able to get enough curry into me. Everybody knows that I love curries. Making curries is what weekends were made for.
This weekend found me looking at the untested vegetarian curry recipes in the hunt for a healthy vegetarian curry to make. It wasn’t long before I found the Dal, Spinach and Sweet Potato Curry recipe. A nice and easy curry recipe that was just screaming out to me.
As well as looking like an easy curry to make, a big bonus is that all of the ingredients are very easy to find and I bought the bits and pieces that I needed while doing my usual Saturday shop.
Making the Dal, Spinach and Sweet Potato Curry
The ingredient preparation needed for this curry is pretty minimal and the only thing that took any time was peeling the sweet potato because of the awkward shape of the potato that I bought. But not to worry because I managed to peel it without doing any damage to myself.
The actual cooking of this curry is really a doddle with only a few cooking steps and all of them were very standard steps when making a curry.
Nothing went wrong when cooking and the sweet potato was well cooked by the end of the main cooking step.
Tasting and Rating the Dal, Spinach and Sweet Potato Curry
The curry tasting team arrived a good 20 minutes before the planned eating time (they must be hungrier than usual today) and I served up the dal, spinach and sweet potato curry with basmati rice for everyone.
And this was a great curry. Very easy to make and everything was cooked well. The curry had a good colour balance with the spinach and there was a lovely coconut taste to enjoy. The curry was very filling, presumably the dal helped here.
The curry received a taste score of 9 out of 10 with a spice/heat rating of “Hot”.
And there was a bonus after burn in the mouth once the curry was finished. Great.
