Curry Time Again
Another Saturday morning found me looking at the untested curry recipes on the Curry Focus website, searching for a simple curry to make on Sunday. I had a few things to do this Sunday so I wanted to find a simple recipe that would not keep in the kitchen for too long.
And I found a nice easy beef and spinach bhuna curry recipe in the list of recipes in the bhuna curry recipes category. There were only a dozen ingredients needed for the beef and spinach bhuna curry and only seven easy cooking steps.
The total cooking time for the curry was about 80 minutes but I would not have to stay in the kitchen all of the time. It would be fine as long as I remembered to keep popping back into the kitchen to keep the cooking going.
For those people who are unfamiliar with bhuna curries, you can look at a blog titled “What Is A Bhuna Curry?” that we wrote a while ago.
Ingredients for the Beef and Spinach Bhuna Curry
The ingredients needed for the beef and spinach curry are readily available and all I really needed to buy were the beef and spinach. I bought these needed ingredients while I was out and about on my shopping trip and there was nothing else to do until Sunday afternoon.
Making the Beef and Spinach Bhuna Curry
Preparing the ingredients before starting to cook was really quick and easy and all I had to do was chop up the onions and beef and measure out the other ingredients.
I started to cook about 90 minutes before the planned eating time and, really, there was nothing complicated or difficult about the cooking.
I managed to do a couple of small jobs while the beef was simmering. I even managed to make and drink a quick gin and tonic. Who said that men can’t multitask?
Rating the Beef and Spinach Bhuna Curry
I served up the beef and spinach bhuna curry to the tasting team and the comments came fairly quickly. The beef was well-cooked and the spinach was perfect. The main taste was the spinach. One person thought that the curry would be improved with the addition of tomatoes – maybe they are correct.
The beef and spinach bhuna curry received a taste score of 7.5 out of 10 with a spice/heat rating of “Medium”. There was a nice after burn in the mouth for a couple of minutes after eating the curry.
Make the Beef and Spinach Bhuna Curry Again?
Yes, I will make this curry again. And I will add tomatoes to the curry. Mind you, this is already a big curry and the extra tomatoes will only make the curry bigger.
