May/June 2015 Newsletter

May 2015 has been a great month here at Curry Focus.

Because our brand new website has been rolled out to the world.

The original Curry Focus website was created way back in December 2006 and launched on 1st January 2007.

At that time there was no such thing as a smart phone. All the mobile/cell phones were big, clunky, beasts that could be used for phone calls if you held a good position whilst talking so that you would not lose the signal.

But the smart phone has changed all of that and nowadays people are poking their smart phones surfing the Internet, playing games, playing music, taking pics (not just selfies), watching videos, organising their schedules, using apps, texting or even talking on them.

The Curry Focus website worked well when we were all using desktop computers.

But the use of the smart phone meant that it was really hard to view the Curry Focus website without magnifying the page and scrolling around trying to read the words.

So the Curry Focus Team (mainly Rob) has created a multi-format website. If you view the website from a desktop, you’ll see wide pages. But if you view the website from a smart phone, you’ll see slimmed down pages. You see the same content in both views but the smart phone user definitely has a more rewarding trip to the website.

Why is this important?

Simple numbers really. Visitors to the Curry Focus website are more likely to be surfing from their smartphone than from their desktop. The percentage of smart phone users is generally somewhere between 45% and 65% each month. And, remember, back in 2007 that percentage was zero.

We hope you like the new website. Let us know if you think of anything that would be useful to you.

In the meantime, we’ll keep adding and improving features.

Please join us on our Facebook page. We look forward to hearing about your favourite recipes and curry experiences!
