Scottish Curry Awards 2012 Results


The 2012 Scottish Curry Awards were held on 11th June in the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow.

This is the 5th annual awards competition and over 600 curry-lovers were there to celebrate Scotland’s love of all things curry.

There are over 500 curry restaurants in Scotland and all of these were potential award winners with over 7,000 public nominations from all over Scotland.

This year there are 9 awards and the winners are as follows.

Restaurant of the Year – Rasoi, Lenzie
Takeaway of the Year – Eastern Spices, Edinburgh
Chef of the Year – Jagtar Singh from Taj Tandoori (Prestwick)
Best of Glasgow – Charcoals, Glasgow
Team of the Year – Taj Mahal, Biggar
Curry Lover of the Year – Glasgow City Council
Best Supermarket Curry – Asda
Lifetime Achievement Award – Rabinder Singh Uppal
Curry King or Queen of the Year – Mohamed Ali

There were also 4 regional winners for the restaurant of the year award (which Rasoi won) and these regional winners were Cinnamon of Aberdeen (North East), Spice Tandoori of Fort William (North West), Suruchi of Edinburgh (South East) and with Rasoi being the South West winner.

Maybe it is time for you to plan a visit to one of these great curry restaurants to sample one of their yummy curries.
