Common Curry Ingredient Fights Bowel Cancer

The Internet news wires have been alive over the last couple of weeks about new research into curcumin, the magic ingredient of turmeric.

We have written lots of blogs about curcumin and its seeming never-ending uses fighting disease and generally benefitting mankind.

A staggering 40,000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK every year and their treatment is often chemotherapy.

Research with animals has found that chemotherapy works a lot better if curcumin is taken as well and now a trial is taking place in hospitals in Leicester to see if the same benefits are achieved with people. The theory is that if the chemotherapy works better then lower doses can be used to get the same positive effects and reduce the negative effects of taking the drugs.
