Three years ago we wrote about the launch of wines to drink with a curry.
But wine with a curry did not seem to catch on too well, at least we did not notice, or hear of, any difference in drinks being consumed with curries.
Now we read that Waitrose is going to have another try. Indian wine has now reportedly reached the quality that British wine drinkers want and two different wines, a white viognier and a red syrah. The wines are aimed at the higher end of the market and it will be interesting to see if Waitrose succeed where previous attempts have failed.
We were immediately drawn to the comment that the viognier goes with a vindaloo, which is one of our preferred yummy dishes. But on reflection, we’ll probably stick to a couple of nice cold beers with our curries.
