Once again the Curry Focus team reads about another health benefit of curcumin, one of the compounds found in turmeric, which is a spice that is often used in curries.
US researchers in the University of Michigan Medical School have discovered that using curcumin means that less cisplatin has to be used to fight head and neck cancers.
Cisplatin is an effective treatment against cancer but it is a very toxic treatment.
So the discovery that using curcumin with cisplatin reduces the needed quantity of cisplatin means that cancers sufferers are given less of the drug to get the same effect.
This application of curcumin is still being studied but, so far, results look good.
