Spicy Tomato Soup Recipe Review

Hi, Ray here again.

I was home alone and a bit peckish. There wasn’t much in the cupboard but I spotted a can of tomato soup hiding at the back. I remember seeing a tomato soup recipe in amongst the soup category of great Curry Focus curry recipes. I checked the Spicy Tomato Soup recipe and had everything I needed, including a rumbling stomach.

My tomato soup was condensed and the recipe did not say whether the soup should be condensed or not. So I just used the condensed soup as it was.

I quickly roasted the peppercorns and cumin seeds and ground them in my mortar and pestle. A lovely smell came from the ground spices.

Although the method instructions looked a bit fiddly, this was actually an extremely easy recipe to follow.

Within 15 minutes of opening the cupboard I was settling down to a lovely bowl of Spicy Tomato Soup and a couple of roti that I found in the freezer and threw into the microwave.

The spicy tomato soup had a very nice cumin and coriander taste, as well as being rich in tomatoes. The spice/heat level was “Hot”, even though the chillies had only been in the cooking soup for a couple of minutes. I’ve always had a soft spot for a good tomato soup and this one was excellent. Even though it was a smooth soup (I prefer soup with lumpy ingredients in it), I still really enjoyed this soup and gave it a taste score of 8 out of 10.

So if you have a lonely can of tomato soup sitting in your food cupboard, why not put it to good use and make a tasty snack for yourself and a friend?
