Curcumin Repairs Stroke Damage

A lot of stories have been circulating recently on using curcumin to help repair damage caused by a stroke.

Researchers have used curcumin, one of the main compounds in curry spice turmeric, to create a new treatment that helps regenerate brain cells after a stroke. The treatment reduced problems with movement and muscle control.

The researchers, from the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles have so far tested the treatment on rabbits but hope to be able to start trails on people in the near future.

This is not the first time that curcumin has been used in medicine. Turmeric has been used in traditional Indian medicine for centuries and recent medical experiments have returned positive results in fighting a wide range of problems such as liver damage, memory loss, hypertension, breast cancer and other cancers.
