Beef Biryani Recipe Review

Hi, Ray here again.

I’ve reviewed a few biryani recipes over the last few years with mixed results, ranging from a good taste score of 8 out 10 for a vegetable biryani down to a poor taste score of 5 out of 10 for a mushroom biryani. I love a good biryani and noticed that a new recipe was posted on the Curry Focus website arrived a couple of months ago – this time a beef biryani recipe had arrived amongst the collection of biryani recipes.

As usual, there were a few ingredients but really this is a very easy recipe to follow.

I made up the onion paste and it was very green (green is good, yes?).

Cooking the biryani was pretty easy with most of the work happening at the beginning. The two long cooking session of 40 and 30 minutes meant that a lot of time was spent in the lounge chatting to the hungry diners.

After all of the cooking it was time to eat.

I served up the Beef Biryani and everyone got stuck in.

But this wasn’t one of the best biryani recipes around. There was a lot of rice and the biryani was pretty bland. The rice and beef were both well-cooked but the biryani was a bit dry.

The disappointing beef biryani received a taste score of only 5.5 out of 10 with a spice/heat rating of “Mild”.

Maybe there should have only been 1 cup of rice in the biryani and I’m sure that a few more spices, including another chilli, would have helped the taste.
